Why Was TravelStats Founded?
Who built Turkish tourism?
Since the 1980s: our entrepreneurs, our investors, our employees and every stakeholder in the sector…
Together, they made Türkiye one of the most visited tourism destinations in the world.
Today, with more than 60 million visitors a year and average tourism revenue of over 60 billion dollars in recent years, Turkish tourism is a giant sector whose direct economic contribution is around 5% of national income.
Reaching the livelihoods of 1.5 million of our people directly, and 4.5–5 million through its indirect effects, this great structure is not just a sector: it is the work of a shared effort.
So how well informed is our view of the future of so large a sector?
Tourism is no longer only about tourist numbers, overnight stays and revenue. It now means understanding markets, measuring competition, tracking costs, seeing risks ahead of time and making the right decisions.
This is the thinking with which Turizm Databank is stepping into a new vision of the future.
It is carrying a body of data built up over many years into the future, with a new approach supported by artificial intelligence.
In this transformation, it is becoming part of the Destino TravelStats team.
Because for us, AI is not an end in itself, but a tool that makes reliable data more meaningful. We treat every piece of tourism data within this chain:
DATA → WHAT IS HAPPENING? → WHY DOES IT MATTER? → SIGNAL → WHO IS AFFECTED? → WHAT SHOULD BE DONE?
Our aim is not only to measure the past, but to understand the present, see change early and shed light on the decisions of the future. People built Turkish tourism. Now it is time to carry this great body of experience into the future with reliable data and artificial intelligence.
More insightful analysis, stronger tourism intelligence and bigger achievements are within our reach…
“As the children of the Turkish nation come to know their ancestors, they will find within themselves the strength to accomplish even greater things.”
— Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, 29 October 1933
